Cosmetology school gives you the foundation. At Blend, we want to help you turn that foundation into a career. The Blend Apprenticeship Program is designed for newly licensed and emerging stylists who want continued education, real salon experience, mentorship, and a clear path toward working behind the chair.
Our next apprenticeship class begins March 16, 2027, and we will be selecting 2–4 new apprentices to join our team.
How Our Apprenticeship Works
Our assistants are paid hourly employees and work a hybrid schedule designed to combine mentorship with hands-on experience.
Part of your schedule will be spent assisting our established stylists. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining exposure to consultations, color, extensions, styling, guest experience, time management, and the everyday systems behind a successful salon career.
The other part of your schedule will be spent taking your own model clients. This allows you to practice and strengthen your skills with real guests while still having the education, guidance, and support of the Blend team around you. As your skills, confidence, and experience grow, your model schedule grows with you.
You're not just assisting. You're actively preparing for your own chair.
What You'll Develop
Your apprenticeship is about developing both the technical and professional skills you'll need for a successful career behind the chair. You'll continue building experience in consultations, color application and formulation, shampooing and treatments, blowouts and finishing, extensions, product knowledge, guest experience, rebooking and retention, time management, photography and social media, clientele building, and the business of being a successful stylist.
We don't expect you to walk through our doors knowing everything. We do expect you to be coachable, motivated, dependable, professional, willing to practice, and excited to learn.
Your Path at Blend
The apprenticeship isn't intended to be a permanent assistant position. As you develop your technical skills, confidence, and ability to create an exceptional guest experience, you'll begin taking more model clients and preparing for the transition into your own chair.
Our goal is to develop confident, well-rounded stylists who are prepared to build a clientele and a long-term career at Blend.
Spring 2027 Hiring Process
We're selecting 2–4 apprentices for our Spring 2027 class.
Start by completing our online application
Please be prepared to upload both a resume and cover letter with your application. Use your cover letter to help us get to know you beyond your resume — tell us why you chose this industry, what you're looking for in a salon, what you hope to develop as a stylist, and why you're interested in beginning your career at Blend. Applicants selected to move forward will be contacted directly by our leadership team.
Group Interview
Our first round is a group interview at Blend. This is your opportunity to learn more about our team and apprenticeship while giving us the chance to get to know you beyond your application. We'll be looking for communication, professionalism, personality, participation, and how you interact within a team environment.
Individual Interviews
Candidates selected to move forward from our group interview will be invited back for an individual interview with our leadership team. We'll talk more about your goals, experience, strengths, areas you want to develop, and what you're looking for in your salon career. You'll also have an opportunity to ask questions and get to know us better.
Hands-On Practical
Finalists will be invited to complete a hands-on practical using a live model. You'll perform a color service from consultation through finished style. We'll be looking at your consultation, service selection, technical foundation, formulation and application, efficiency, professionalism, guest experience, and finished result. We aren't looking for perfection — we want to see your foundation, your thought process, how you interact with a guest, and your willingness to learn. Candidates invited to this stage will receive our complete Hands-On Interview Guidelines in advance so you'll know exactly what to expect and how to prepare.
New Hire Onboarding
Our selected apprentices will complete new-hire onboarding together and prepare to officially join the Blend team.
Your First Day at Blend
Our Spring 2027 apprenticeship class officially begins.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for future stylists who are excited to learn and serious about building a career in this industry. You don't need years of experience or a clientele. You do need to be coachable, dependable, professional, willing to receive feedback, comfortable taking initiative, committed to practicing your craft, and excited about being part of a team.
Most importantly, we're looking for people who genuinely want to grow. You don't need to have it all figured out yet — that's what the apprenticeship is for.
